The Cost of Art

Oftentimes people don't understand the cost of handmade.  Why do "indie brands" charge nearly as much as "Brand name from Japan" brands?

Here is a neat little article (thanks, Ava!) breaking down the cost of a crochet hat.  I personally used to do a LOT of crochet and know just how hard it is on wrists and just how much time it takes.

When we shop at corporation brands, we pay so little that it seems as though "handmade" is ridiculously overpriced.  I'm thinking of doing a breakdown of the cost to produce on one of my pieces... would that be something interesting to see?

I'd post it on my Lolita blog here if I did do it :)
